In South Africa, a Nigerian man named Ifeanyi Mbah and his two sons were killed in a car crash.
His wife, Nomabandla Mbah, 33, was the only survivor of the crash, which occurred on Monday night, March 22 in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape.
According to reports, the family was driving along the N2 near Bluewater Bay when their car veered off the road and collided with a fence.
Ifeanyi, 42, and their two sons, Uchenna, six, and Chinedu, one, were killed on the scene. Nomabandla was admitted to a doctor in Motherwell for care of a knee injury.
Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge, who confirmed the incident, said it appeared that the husband had been driving the vehicle when the accident occurred, but it was not known yet what had caused him to lose control and veer off the road.
“At about 8.40pm, a white Volkswagen Polo was travelling along the N2, from Bluewater Bay towards Gqeberha, when it left the road and collided with a barrier. The vehicle overturned in the process and landed on its roof,” Beetge said.
A case of culpable homicide is under investigation.
