Two Delta State University finalists, Emmanuel Maduka and Timeyin Okoromadu, were crushed to death by an unknown cement vehicle.

According to sources, the truck ran off the road in Abraka while attempting to stop a motorcyclist and a moving car on Police Station Road.

This turn of events resulted in the duo’s death on Tuesday, May 4.

Emmanuel, a first-class scholar, and his best friend from the Department of Economics were set to graduate in a few months.

According to videos shown, Timeyin was lying lifeless on the side of the road. At the same time, his friend’s body was partly captured under the trailer as witnesses made efforts to empty the cement truck to rescue other victims.

The truck driver allegedly escaped from the scene, leaving his partner, who was manhandled by on-lookers.
Spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, DSP Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident to The Nation on Wednesday, May 5,
“I have two casualties for now. I don’t know if they have discovered another one. I know the conductor was rescued from being mobbed and is currently in our custody,” Bright stated.
