Unknown gunmen have killed about five unidentified soldiers in Rivers State’s Omelema village, Abia Local Government Area.

According to reports, the gunmen arrived from a nearby river, opened fire indiscriminately, and then went directly to a lodge where the soldiers were camped, killing two on the spot around 11 p.m. on Monday.

The recent attack comes just 48 hours after gunmen accused of being supporters of the Indigenous People of Biafra targeted security posts, killing eight operatives.
