Abubakar Bello, the Governor of Niger State, has reported that Boko Haram terrorists have raised their flag in Kaure village, Shiroro Local Council of the state.

Bello made the revelation while visiting the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp at the IBB Primary School near the Emir of Minna’s palace in Minna yesterday.

He also said that the terrorists took over the wives of some of the villagers and assigned them to themselves.

Following the sacking of nearly 5,000 villagers from their ancestral homes in Shiroro and Munya local councils by bandits who stormed the towns over the weekend, the primary school was quickly converted into an IDP camp.

“I am confirming that there are Boko Haram elements here in Niger State,” Bello said. I can announce that they have hoisted their flags here in Kaure. Their wives have been kidnapped and forcedly married to Boko Haram members.

“I just heard that they have placed their flags at Kaure, meaning they have taken over the territory. This is what I have been engaging the Federal Government on. Unfortunately, it has now got to this level. If care is not taken, even Abuja is not safe.”
