Etinosa Idemudia, an actor, has voiced her displeasure with the practise of mercilessly beating children as a means of punishment.

The actress claims that mercilessly beating children as punishment will instil in the child the belief that the best way to right a wrong is by abuse, and that the child will turn the same violence towards others.

She went on to say that “spear the rod and punish the child,” and that the rod has been used to punish children for years, but society is only getting worse, with “violence rising and values decreasing.”
