Collision between petrol tanker and a bus leaves 6 dead and 11 injured in Anambra State

No fewer than six people lost their lives in a severe accident which involved a petrol tanker and a commuter bus in Anambra state on Sunday, November 22. The accident and the death toll were made known by a Route Commander and Public Education Officer of Anambra Sector Command of the FRSC, Kamal Musa. He said that 6 people died  and 11 were injured in the crash which occurred at the Nkwelle Ezunaka axis of Enugu-Onitsha expressway. 

In his statement, Musa further revealed that the injured were taken to Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital for treatment while the dead taken to the morgue. He said the likely cause of the crash was over speeding.

“The crash occurred as a result of excessive speeding leading to loss of control of the bus and crashing eventually.

A total of 17 adults were involved in the crash 11 male adults who sustained varying degree of injuries were rushed to Iyi – Ene Hospital Ogidi

Corpses of the dead victims were deposited at the Mogue after Doctor’s confirmation.

The Sector Commander sends his condolences to the deceased families and warns motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits stipulated by law and minimize avoidable crashes this Ember Months.” he said
