Davido, a Nigerian musician, has hinted that he intends to trademark his famous slang e choke very soon.

According to the jowo hitmaker, the pace at which people are using the slang in their everyday interactions and on social media is out of control, so he has to own it to insure it is still attributed to his name. This proposal was announced in a post on his Twitter page.

Davido wrote;

“Gotta get ‘e choke’ copyrighted it’s getting outta hand”.

Davido used this slang in his new hit, Activate, with Stonebwoy. The slang that arose not long ago has now become a part of the vocabulary that people use today.

However, several actors have begun copyrighting their nicknames in order to retain use of the name. BBNaija star Ka3na copyrighted her nickname Boss Lady a few weeks ago, and Erica did the same with her tag, Stargirl.
