The state Local Government Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Ekiti state have reacted to former Governor Ayodele Fayose’s reported threat to leave the party for the All Progressive Congress APC ahead of the 2022 Governorship election.

The chairmen claimed that Fayose is unconcerned about what they called petty blackmail.

This follows Fayose’s reported threat to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) if his prefered candidate, Bisi Kolawole, is not chosen as the governorship candidate.

In a statement, Michael Abiodun, Chairman of the PDP LG Chairmen, stated that it is PDP or nothing for Fayose.

“For supporting Bisi Kolawole as PDP governorship candidate, he has no apologies. This is more so that opponents of Bisi Kolawole also know that he is the aspirant to beat.

“For Fayose, PDP remains the bigger picture that must be protected. Our leader is used to these armchair politics of image smearing, he has never been bothered”, he said.

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has fixed June 18, 2022 for the gubernatorial election in Ekiti.
