Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has disclosed that goalkeeper Alisson Becker thought the referee was unfair to award a penalty to Burnley after Thursday night’s 1-0 Premier League loss.
Thanks to Ashley Barnes’ late penalty, Burnley beat Liverpool in the Premier League at Anfield.
After Becker seemed to have made contact with the striker, Barnes won the penalty for the tourists, but the Brazilian shot-stopper said there was no contact.
We had a lot of the ball, created some and didn’t finish the situations off,” Klopp said after the game at the post-match press conference.”
“That keeps the game open, and then they get the penalty – Alisson told me he didn’t touch him, but I didn’t see it back.”
The defeat against Burnley means Liverpool are now in the 4th position on the Premier League table with 34 points from 19 matches.
The Reds will face Manchester United in the FA Cup in their next fixture on Sunday.
