Femi Branch, a Nollywood star, has responded to claims that embattled Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly identified as Baba Ijesha, who was arrested on charges of molesting a 14-year-old child, might be released from custody on Friday, April 30.

A senior officer with the Lagos State Police Command reported to PUNCH Metro that an order has been given to release Baba Ijesha within the next 24 hours.

According to the police, this is owing to the current strike by members of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, which has rendered the courts inoperable, and the suspect cannot be arrested permanently without a hearing.

In an Instagram video, Femi Branch asked why Baba Ijesha will be released despite overwhelming evidence that he sexually abused the minor.

Femi Branch has stated that the perpetrator will be released because the rape occurred 7 years earlier and was not reported to the police.

Furthermore, the CCTV video does not clearly show an attack because Baba Ijeshua was just seen handling the minor and there is no evidence of defilement.
