The list of nominees for the 2021 Grammy tipped to be hosted by Trevor Noah,a South-African comedian, has been released.
African giant or so Burna Boy calls himself, has been nominated for the 2021 Grammy awards scheduled to hold on January 31, 2021.
Twice As Tall which is the most recent Album by Burna Boy is nominated in the Best Global Music Album category at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards.
Recall that African Giant was also nominated at the 62nd Grammy Awards ceremony but did not win the award for Burna Boy rather it was won by Angélique Kidjo.
The 63rd annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast by CBS from Los Angeles on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021. However, not much is known about the ceremony.
Ben Winston (known for his work on James Corden’s late-night show and “Carpool Karaoke”) will be be replacing Ken Ehrlich who has been the producer of the show for 40 years.
Criteria for the 2021 awards is that albums and songs must have been released between Sept. 1, 2019, and Aug. 31, 2020. There were a few changes too to the categories and rules for this year which includes but not limited to:
1) renaming of urban contemporary album to best progressive R&B album
2) renaming of rap/sung performance to best melodic rap performance
3) renaming of best Latin pop album to best Latin pop or urban album
4) renaming of best Latin rock, urban or alternative album to best Latin rock or alternative album;
and
5) renaming of world music album to best global music album.
