Suspected hoodlums have kidnapped the Auxiliary Bishop of Owerri Catholic Archdiocese, Most Rev. Dr. Moses Chikwe.
Bishop Chikwe was carried by his driver when their vehicle was attacked by the so- called roobers along the World Bank – Umuguma road on Sunday evening, December 27. He was taken away together with his driver,while his car was later seen at the Assumpta Cathedral.
Bishop Chikwe was consecrated a Bishop of Catholic Church on December 12th, 2019.
He was the Director of Education of the Archdiocese and collaborator of the Parish of St. Thomas More, before his appointment as an Auxillary bishop by Pope Francis,
The spokesperson of the state police command, Orlando Ikeokwu, “confirmed the incident and said the state commissioner of police, has activated the Commands Quick Intervention Team and Anti-Kidnapping Unit to move into the matter with a view to rescue the Bishop and possibly arrest the hoodlums”.
