On Saturday night, Nigeria defeated the United States 90-87 in a pre-Olympic basketball friendly.
The match was held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
D’Tiger, led by six NBA players and head coach Mike Brown, became the first African country to defeat the Americans.
It is the first of five warm-up games for the United States before the Olympics in Tokyo.
They were missing three players who were still competing in the NBA Finals.
Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets led the Americans with 17 points.
Gabe Vincent led Nigeria with 21 points.
“I’m kind of glad it happened,” USA head coach Gregg Popovich said.
Popovich noted that the Nigerians have been training together since June, while his side was assembled just four days earlier.
He added that the defeat should be seen as a learning experience and not “the end of the world.”
