In Jigawa, immigration saves eight victims of human trafficking.

In Jigawa State, the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) rescued eight alleged victims of human trafficking.

Ahmad Dauda Bagari, NIS Comptroller, Jigawa State Command, confirmed the arrest to reporters in his office on Monday.

He stated that the victims were apprehended by NIS personnel on their route to cross the border into Niger on Sunday along Kaya-Daurawa in Roni Local Government.

Five males and three females from the four states of Abia, Edo, Imo, and Ogun were among the victims.

 

He explained that the victims, whose ages range between 19 and 45 years, were without valid travelling documents.

Nagari noted that there is no incriminating items or drugs found in their possession.

He said after the investigation the victims will be handed over to NAPTIP for further action.
