Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho scored again as the Foxes fell 4-2 to Newcastle United on Friday.
The Nigerian’s goal brought him within one goal of Crotone’s Simy Nwankwo’s record.
As they tried to claw their way back into the contest, Iheanacho scored a late goal, and Marc Albrighton cut the lead to 4-0.
He now has 10 league goals this season, all of which came between March and May.
The effort also ranked him as the second most prolific attacker in Europe’s top five leagues with only his compatriot Simy having more goals than him during this time.
The lanky forward has 12 Serie A goals but his effort has not been able to help Crotone maintain their status in the Italian top-flight, having confirmed their relegation.
