The Ghanaian singer and model, Deborah Vanessa, popularly known as Sister Derby, has joined forces with people who advocate against the presence of an LGBTQ office in the region.

Her outburst follows calls from numerous citizens and religious bodies opposed to the opening of an LGBT office in the country, adding that her presence ignores the country’s cultural values and sanity.

But in response, Sister Derby went to Twitter on February 22, 2021 to express her displeasure.

According to the “Ghana Jollof” hitmaker, members of LGBTQ society only seek protection of their rights from the state and nothing else.

He also called the Ghanaian hypocrites, adding that most fathers cover up when their daughters are abused by family members, but they are swift to judge LGBTQ members.

In a serious tone on Twitter, he wrote, “Bloodclarts, legalising #LGBTQI doesn’t mean that they get abused or raped like their uncles did when their mothers were defending them, that’s a crime. It means they’re going to be safe from homophobes like you, so you can’t hurt them! Let it be! Time! Period! ”

Sister Derby’s older brother, Wanlov the Kuborlor, also advocated the equality of LGBTQ culture in Ghana.

Meanwhile, the African Center for International Law and Transparency (ACILA) has established 87 per cent of Ghanaians as compared to LGBT+ group public gatherings in Ghana, according to their survey.
