According to Eurosport, Lionel Messi is ready to take a pay cut in order for Barcelona to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.

Joan Laporta, the current president of Barcelona, has told Messi that he will have to take a pay cut in order to extend his contract beyond 2021.

The 33-year-old, on the other hand, is more worried with the club’s preparations for the summer transfer window.

Messi’s top priority in the forthcoming transfer window is to insure Barcelona is ambitious.

Barcelona is keeping an eye on Haaland as they look for a new striker.

Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez was previously their top target and there is still rumour of Sergio Aguero joining on a free transfer from Manchester City this summer.

But Haaland has jumped to the top of Barca’s shortlist amid his impressive performances for Dortmund this season, with Messi keen to link up with the youngster at the Nou Camp.
