Nigeria has 73,000 cases of COVID-19 and 2 deaths in Lagos.

The confirmed COVID-19 cases diagnosed in Nigeria rose to 73,175 on Sunday after the NCDC reported 418 new cases. However, in the last 24 hours, three COVID-related deaths have occurred. In Lagos, two of them happened.This led the death toll to rise from 229 on Saturday to 231 on Sunday in Lagos.The NCDC has never shared the names of the dead, but the death toll is currently 1,197 in total terms.The number of persons discharged has also risen to 66,090.


The NCDC clarified the latest discharge composition: “Our discharges today include 74 community recoveries in the state of Kaduna, 49 in the state of Lagos, 29 in the state of Abia, and 20 in the state of Plateau, managed in accordance with the guidelines.”As the number of cases of COVID-19 grew from 1 December onwards, the care centres also swelled with active cases.While 24,952 infections have been reported in Lagos, the highest in the world, its active cases are 1,282, lower than Abuja’s 1,953.Abuja has 8,424 cases confirmed. On Sunday, 86 new cases were registered, followed by Lagos with 113 cases.The other states with high active cases are Kaduna with 491, Oyo 343, Nasarawa 224 and Rivers 187.Here is a breakdown of the confirmed cases on Sunday out of 7,125 samples:
