Eddy Purity Tom, a Nigerian police officer, took to social media to thank God for allowing him to survive the Monday, April 5 assault on the state police headquarters by alleged members of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

The gunmen targeted the state police offices and the detention centre, burning property and freeing inmates who had been detained in the institutions.

Eddy, who was on duty at the time of the explosion, posted pictures of his burned-out vehicle and expressed hope that he would be able to replace it. He also noted that someone is fighting for their life in the hospital.

His post reads:

”The car is gone but my life is spared

Thank You Dear God.

By the power and favour from God Almighty I will still get another car, maybe even better than the avalon.

Someone is battling life at the hospital from the same attack. May God safe his life.”
