President Muhammadu Buhari has gone into self-isolation in order to follow the COVID-19 protocol, which requires anyone who comes into touch with a virus-positive person to follow.

The President and officials who accompanied him on his 18-day vacation to the United Kingdom were tested for COVID-19 upon his return, which triggered the self-isolation.

This comes after he met with officials from Nigeria’s High Commission in the United Kingdom, some of whom tested positive for COVID-19. Their positive test resulted in the High Commission’s facilities being closed for ten days commencing on Thursday.

Confirming President Buhari’s self-isolation, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said it is in observance of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)’s guideline. According to him, besides the President, all those who accompanied him on the trip did the mandatory PCR test on Friday and will follow it with the second test days later.

Meanwhile, Nigerians have indifferently to the News and many of them have taken to social media to offer incredible prayers on his behalf.

One Lulu Nancy, an Interior Designer and Consultant wrote “God anything that is not your will in Nigeria take it away and give us peace. Amen”
