It’s all about timing.
“Jersey Shore” star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro popped the question to his girlfriend Saffire Matos Saturday, coincidentally the same day his ex, Jen Harley, was arrested in Las Vegas.
Ortiz-Magro popped the question at a private picnic in Los Angeles, surrounded by family — including daughter Ariana, 3, who he shares with Harley.
“Ronnie has been taking this time to work on himself and his daughter,” a source close to Ortiz-Magro told People. “They’re both really happy for this next chapter. His health and happiness are what is most important.”
Ortiz-Magro took to Instagram on Monday to announce the couple’s engagement with a picture of him and Saffire holding hands. Matos, a Staten Island beautician, showed off her new ring in the photo.
“I love you
Harley was arrested Saturday on charges of domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon and her bail set at $5,000. The following day, as Ortiz-Magro and Matos celebrated their recent engagement in Disneyland with Ariana, Harley appeared in court.

Ortiz-Magro himself was arrested in April on domestic violence charges, while on probation from a separate domestic violence case involving Harley. At the time, Matos addressed the news on her Instagram Story, asking fans for privacy.
The reality star would later decide to get professional help for what his attorneys described as “psychological issues that he has ignored for a long time.” Ortiz-Magro and Matos have subsequently been putting up a united front while Ortiz-Magro receives help, sharing cuddly photos on social media.
But it’s unlikely we will get to see much of the couple’s romance play out on “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.” Ortiz-Magro announced in May that he was taking a step back from “Jersey Shore” for mental health reasons.
