The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said school abduction is taking place also in the most developed countries in the world.

Lai Mohammed said this while interviewing Channels Television about the growing security situation in Nigeria.

The Minister, who said that the terrorist did not abide by the laws of government and was involved in soft targets, claimed that there were abduction incidents in at least 4 schools in the United States in 2020.

Mohammed noted that the abduction of school children draws more global attention, which is why kidnappers participate in it. He also said that intelligence gathering was the most important thing for him, as Nigeria could not turn all its schools into barracks.

The Minister, who revealed that the current administration proposed transferring students to schools where there is security, also recalled how suicide bombers targeted places of worship in the country a few years ago.
