Sergio Aguero, a striker with Manchester City, has tested positive for coronavirus.
Since being named as a near contact with another reported occurrence, skipping the last four fixtures, the Argentina international had been self-isolating.
However, as a result of the near touch, Aguero has reported he has caught the virus himself, which will now make him skip more games as he will be out for at least ten days as per the government’s exclusion guidelines.
The 32-year-old tweeted: “After a close contact, I’ve been self-isolating and the latest test I took was positive for COVID-19. I had some symptoms and I’m following doctor’s orders for recovery. Take care, everyone!”
The news means that Aguero will miss the FA Cup trip to Cheltenham, and the Premier League fixtures against West Brom and Sheffield United.
