The defendant was ordered released by the Lagos State Police Command because there is no defilement allegation against him and the court cannot sit due to the current strike by members of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria.
In response to the allegation, Ruth Kadiri claimed in an Instagram post that the CCTV footage only showed Baba Ijesha touching the victim’s body. Nonetheless, it never showed him having sexual relations with the child, who also denied it.
According to Ruth Kadiri, the police decision to release Baba Ijesha on the grounds that the rape case seven years earlier demonstrated that children had no rights in Nigeria.
She went on to say that certain people in authority are paedophiles and encouraged parents and guardians to keep their children safe.
“The mother complained that her child was at the age of seven when she was defiled and the child pointed at Baba Ijesha. But the case was not reported until she was 14 years and under the law, the case has become statute-barred”.
“Regarding the new case, the CCTV footage has been assessed and nowhere was in it captured that Baba Ijesha defiled her. The footage only showed him touching the victim’s body but it never showed him having any sexual intercourse with the girl. This girl also confirmed the same thing”.
In Nigeria, children have no rights, there are no laws guiding them. This is no place to raise your kids. Even the people in power, some of them are pedophiles . Keep your young ones safe. Be guarded.
