As Nigeria prepares for the third wave of COVID-19, the federal government and state governors have stated that there is no impending lockdown on the horizon.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, revealed this to State House journalists during a virtual National Economic Council (NEC) meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Sanwo-Olu stated that Osinbajo told him that the NEC would hold an emergency meeting on the revival of COVID-19 if the necessity arises.

“The chairman of the council (Osinbajo) mentioned to us that if there is a need for an emergency meeting, he will call one.”

The governor said the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the Presidential Task Force (PTF) are working with states like Lagos to monitor daily happenings.

“We are preparing ourselves to ensure that as much as possible, we can very quickly flatten the curve’’, Sanwo-Olu added.
