Dr. Oyebanji Filani, Commissioner for Health and Human Services in Ekiti State, has assured the leadership of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in the state that the state governor, Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji, will eliminate pay disparities, which have contributed to the brain drain syndrome among medical professionals.
The Commissioner stated this during a courtesy visit to his office on November 9, 2022, by NMA-led members of the SOC and affiliate heads.
The Chairman of NMA in Ekiti State, Dr Babatunde Rosiji presented the challenges militating against healthcare delivery in the state. He also noted that the health system in the state needs urgent action to save it from total collapse.
Responding, the Commissioner appreciated members of NMA for their support even at this critical time.
While noting that the brain drain syndrome is a global problem, he avowed that Ekiti will work out the modalities to face the challenges headlong.
He further promised to work with the data given to him to project the challenges to Governor Oyebanji for approval of possible solutions.
