Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has spoken out against Chidinma Adaora Ojukwu, the Mass Communication student accused of murdering Super TV CEO Usifo Ataga.
Chidinma’s studentship was verified by Ogundipe, who stated that the university would not refuse her admission.
“According to our records, Chidinma Adaora Ojukwu is a University of Lagos student who was born on December 12, 1999.
“She is from Abia State, according to our records. Her contact address is 57 Akinwumi Street, Alagomeji, Yaba, Lagos, according to our data.
Speaking on Wednesday at a briefing to unveil activities of the institution’s forthcoming convocation ceremony, UNILAG vice-chancellor Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe gave Ms Ojukwu’s bio-data, adding that the institution could not deny she is a student.
He said, “From our records which are available to us, Chidinma Adaora Ojukwu, is a student of the University of Lagos who was born on December 12, 1999.
“From our records, she is from Abia State. From our records her contact address is 57, Akinwumi Street, Alagomeji, Yaba, Lagos.
“From our records, her telephone number is 09024***827.
“From our records, her next of kin is Mr Onoh Ojukwu. She is a student of this great university whether she is a part-time or full-time student. Her matriculation number is 170912015.
“We cannot deny the fact that she is a student of the university.”
Ogundipe further explained that the management was following due process in handling the case.
According to him, the university is managing the administrative aspect of the matter as it is already in the hands of the police.
Ojukwu had told the news media that she stabbed Mr Ataga on the influence of hard drugs and smoking, stressing “I started smoking after I got into UNILAG.”
