Dino Melaye, former senator representing Kogi West, urged Nigerians not to delight in the appointment of new chiefs of staff.

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, announced new service chiefs after many demands for sacks from previous ones due to the country’s increasing insecurity.

Major-General Leo Irabor as Chief of Defense Staff; Air Vice-Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao as Chief of Air Staff; Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo as Chief of Naval Staff; and General Ibrahim Attahiru as Chief of Army Staff.

Reacting, Melay advised the Nigerians to be very observant and not yet rejoicing about the appointments.

On his Twitter page, the former senator said, “Do not shout Hallelujah or Alhamdulilihi for the locomotive announcement of the current chiefs of service. Not the Uhuru. Shine your eyes to the Nigerians.”

Meanwhile, Femi Adesina, Special Advisor on Media and Publicity to President Buhari, said that the retirement of the Chiefs of Staff was not the result of a series of security shortcomings in their term.
