Mrs Okiemute Dafe, a housewife, was arrested by Delta Police for stabbing her husband to death after he refused to come home to sleep.
According to news, the incident occurred on Kulup Road, off Ekrejegbo in the state’s Ughelli North Local Government Area.
According to sources, the trouble began when the deceased, who had slept outside the matrimonial home the night before, returned home on Monday to be greeted by his enraged partner.
According to sources, the couple’s dispute developed into a violent altercation, during which the perpetrator stabbed the deceased.
According to news, the suspect hit him on the head with a cutlass.
The woman was said to have stabbed the victim before attacking him with a cutlass.
As a result, Dafe, also known as Best Cartel, suffered serious cuts before being rushed to the Ughelli Central Hospital by neighbours.
However, he was pronounced dead by medical staff at the hospital’s Accident and Emergency Facility.
According to reports, the woman tried to flee the scene after realising the severity of her actions, but she was intercepted by youths and neighbours.
Following the husband’s death, an enraged crowd tried to torch Okiemute.
However, the woman was rescued by officers from the Ughelli Police Area Headquarters.
Unsatisfied, the crowd pursued the police party to the station and tried to break in, but they were dispersed by operatives who resorted to shooting bullets into the air.
DSP Bright Edafe, Delta State Command’s acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), reported the incident, saying it happened during a dispute between the pair.
The police spokesperson also announced that Okiemute had been detained and was currently being questioned.
