World Cup: Chelsea’s Sterling not in form – John Terry names players who should start for England

Chelsea legend, John Terry, has named three players he wants England manager Gareth Southgate to start in his side’s 2022 FIFA World Cup opener against Iran on Monday.

England will kick off their campaign in Qatar with a match against Iran on Monday afternoon.

The Three Lions are in Group B at the tournament and will face the likes of Iran, Wales and the USA.

However, Terry wants the likes of Harry Kane, Jack Grealish and Phil Foden to start for Southgate’s side in the attack line, insisting that Sterling is not in form.

“I think Jack is that type, he will take the ball anywhere. I have worked with Jack. He always wants it,” Terry told beIN Sports (as quoted by HITC).

“I would probably start Kane, Foden, and Jack would be in my team. It is the group stage. Sterling’s not in form for Chelsea.

“I have spoken before about these big tournaments. I think Foden and Grealish will play a big part in this competition because they want the ball. They want to isolate defenders.”
