The appointment of Alhaji Yakubu Muhammad Kwairanga as the new Emir of Funakaye has been authorised by Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
According to NenyKo, the former Emir Muazu Muhammad Kwairanga II died on August 27, 2022.
Following this, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House Gombe, explained in a statement on Monday that Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki Jalo, Commissioner, Ministry of Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, signed the appointment letter issued to the newly appointed emir who replaced the deceased.
According to the commissioner, the appointment followed the power vested in the governor by the constitution establishing the Gombe State Chieftaincy Law 2022 and based on recommendations of the kingmakers of the Funakaye Emirate Council as well as due consultations.
Hon. Dasuki, while presenting the appointment letter to the new monarch at the emir’s palace in Bajoga, Funakaye Local Government Area, urged the newly appointed traditional ruler to see all in the community as his own and establish a working relationship with all those within his domain even as he counted on him to continue from where his predecessor stop.
While praying to Almighty Allah who has chosen Yakubu Muhammad Kwairanga as the next emir to succeed the previous one who has gone to sleep with his ancestors, he appealed to the entire Funakaye Community to support and rally around the new monarch.
He assured that Governor Inuwa Yahaya-led administration would continue to give special recognition and respect to the traditional institution in view of its role in the maintenance of peace and social cohesion.
While wishing the new Emir a peaceful reign, the commissioner said the coronation and presentation of staff of office to the new emir will be held at a later date.
